Common questions

Good to know.

Honest answers to the questions we're asked most. If yours isn't here, your consultation is the place to ask it.

If you've been weighing up a mail-order kit, the difference with Velare is simple: you are seen. A GDC-registered dentist assesses your teeth and gums in person, takes a 3D scan in clinic, and oversees every stage from start to finish. Postal aligners treat you at a distance, from impressions you take yourself at home — Velare never does.

Clear aligners feel tight rather than painful, usually for a day or two each time you move to a new set, as your teeth gently adjust. Most people settle quickly. Because your dentist plans each stage in person, tooth movements are measured and comfortable rather than rushed.

The aligners are clear and discreet, made to sit closely against your teeth. In everyday conversation most people won't notice them at all — which is rather the point.

It depends on your case. Milder cases can begin from around three months; more complex ones may take nine months or longer. At your consultation, your dentist will give you an honest, realistic timeline before anything begins.

Everything that makes up your journey: your consultation, 3D scan, digital smile design, custom aligners and progress reviews in clinic. Professional whitening and retainers are included on completion. There are no surprise add-ons.

Yes. Professional whitening and Vivera retainers are treated as part of your care, not optional extras sold at the end. A refined, finished smile — and a way to protect it — are part of the price you see.

Yes. 0% finance is available subject to eligibility, so treatment can be paid monthly rather than upfront. We'll talk you through the options and the representative terms at your consultation.

You'll meet a Harley Street dentist for an unhurried assessment: a careful look at your teeth and gums, clinical photographs, a 3D scan, and a frank conversation about what's realistic for you. You'll see your predicted result before deciding whether to proceed.

Beyond your consultation and scan, you'll come in for brief progress reviews roughly every six to eight weeks, so your dentist can check your teeth are tracking to plan. The exact number depends on the length of your treatment.

If a case needs fine-tuning towards the end, your dentist will discuss refinement aligners with you as part of reaching the result you approved. Because your treatment is overseen in person, adjustments are made thoughtfully rather than left to chance.

IPR — interproximal reduction — is the gentle polishing of tiny amounts of enamel between certain teeth to create the space they need to move into line. It's a routine, painless part of many aligner treatments, and your dentist will only use it where it genuinely helps, explaining it fully beforehand.

You're provided with retainers to hold your new position, and your dentist will explain how to protect your result for the long term. The aim is a smile that lasts — not one that looks good only on the day the aligners come off.

Most people who would like straighter teeth are suitable, but the honest answer comes from being seen. Your consultation exists precisely to tell you — clearly and without pressure — whether Velare is right for you, and which treatment tier best fits your case.
